Symptom
- Outbound delivery processing in SAP Business ByDesign is taking longer than usual, exceeding 2 minutes for deliveries with 3-4 line items.
- This issue is impacting operational efficiency and user productivity, causing delays in fulfilling customer orders.
Environment
Outbound Delivery Request
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Outbound Logistics work center.
- Proceed to the Delivery Proposal view.
- Search the relevant delivery proposal with id
- Select it and choose the Post Goods Issue button.
- The system takes more than one minute to display the screen.
Cause
- The absence of material flow rules in the location.
- In the absence of material flow rules, the system uses the default picking strategy which is Minimum Movements.
- The strategy considers all bins that contain the requested material, and scans the entire inventory to proposes a source randomly.
- if the stock overview has too many line items of a product(s) system will have to scan all the line items to identify a source.
Resolution
- Maintaining the material flow rules will help eliminate this issue.
