Symptom
- The 4-5-4 fiscal calendar setting in SAP Analytics Cloud's Model Preference is not correctly adding the 53rd week.
- The extra week is being added to the beginning of the 53rd week, for example, FY24 February, instead of being added to the end of FY23 January.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a model with a 4-5-4 fiscal calendar in SAC.
- Notice that the extra week is being added to the beginning of the 53rd week, for example, FY24 February, instead of at the end of FY23 January.
Cause
- The Week-Based Date Patterns in SAC define how the calendar weeks are calculated in a Calendar year. This includes the First Day of the Week and the First Week of the Year. The Fiscal Settings do not change the Calendar Weeks but only shift by month.
- The issue arises when the Fiscal Weeks are expected to be calculated independently of the Calendar Weeks, which is not currently supported by SAC.
Resolution
- Understand that the Week-Based Date Patterns define how the calendar weeks are calculated in a Calendar year.
- Consider switching from System-managed-time to user-managed time as per the SAC documentation. This allows the time data to be defined manually and to set the starting dates of the week as required.
