Symptom
The error message "Your entry is too long. Do not enter more than 40 character(s)" is displayed when a password with more than 40 characters is entered in the event notification.
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to Administrator > General Settings > Event Notification.
- Select any Event Notification and click on "Edit Credentials."
- Enter a password longer than 40 characters.
Cause
The event notification uses a standard password data element which is used in other C4C applications as well and which is limited to 40 characters.
Resolution
Event notification uses a standard password element, which is also used in other C4C applications, and is limited to 40 characters. This means that all the passwords maintained in the C4C system, including the C4C login password, are limited to 40 chars.
Extending the length of the password might have a critical impact on running consumer definitions and cannot be done at this time. We will add this as a feature request and consider it in future release planning. Since it's quite challenging, we cannot set a certain timeline for the release. For now, this issue needs to be resolved by using a shorter password.
