3540675 - AWS SES SMTP error 554 - Illegal Address with BCC only recipients

Symptom

  • SLT notification emails are not sent when using AWS SES SMTP service.
  • SMTP error 554 Illegal Address response received from AWS SES.
  • In AWS SES console the sender e-mail address used by SAP software is verified.
  • Other emails with non-bcc recipients are accepted by AWS SES from the same sender.
  • Other, non-AWS SMTP service worked properly.
  • MIME header "To:" is missing ":;":
