Symptom
- In the process of hiring a new employee, the Employee ID is not being generated as expected based on the selected sequence in the rule.
- Employee ID generation rule has been set with different sequences
- Create a new employee > choose one subordinate of legal entity and save it as a draft.
- When returning to the draft version > modify the subordinate of legal entity and submit the new hire > employee ID generation does not follow the sequence series according to the rule.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, Add New Employee Wizard
Reproducing the Issue
- Initiate the process to add a new employee.
- Select "A" for a subordinate of legal entity.
- Save the new employee entry as a draft.
- Reopen the draft and change the subordinate to "B".
- Submit the new employee entry. The Employee ID is incorrectly generated and does not follow the sequence.
Cause
The issue is due to the Role-Based Permissions (RBP) for the workflow approver on the MDF object "Hire/Rehire configuration". The "Hire/Rehire configuration" object is configured as secured with its permission category as "Miscellaneous Permissions", and the workflow approver does not have permission to this object.
Resolution
- Identify that the "Hire/Rehire configuration" object is configured as secured.
- Either remove the security configuration for this object or grant the necessary permissions for this object.
