3543259 - C4C IP Address returned by Ping does not match the range shown in KBA 3193919

Symptom

You wish to know the correct IP address values for tracking communications for C4C. However, when you 'ping' your tenant, the IP address returned does not fall within the range expected from KBA 3193919.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer core applications

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In cmd prompt execute the command 'ping <myxxxxxx.crm.ondemand.com>' where <myxxxxxx.crm.ondemand.com> is your C4C tenant host.
  2. The IP address returned does not fall within the ranges specified in  KBA  3193919

Cause

Akamai is enabled for the tenant. In this case, dynamic IPs serve the traffic at the AKAMAI layer before reaching the SAP network.

If Akamai is enabled, the first line returned when you ping the tenant will read 'Pinging exxx.a.akamaiedge.net.'  

Resolution

The values from KBA 3193919 are still valid in such cases. These should be used.
