3547239 - Error "Identified stock not valid" during Change of Stock in SAP Business ByDesign

Symptom

  • While attempting to perform a change of stock for a particular Material in a certain Site, an error message "Identified stock not valid" is displayed.
  • The issue occurs when trying to assign a particular active Identified Stock ID.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Supply Planning work center.
  2. Go to the Common Tasks and select Stock Overview.
  3. Enter the relevant Product ID.
  4. Click Go.
  5. Select the row with the relevant On-Hand Quantity.
  6. Click Change of Stock.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Enter the relevant active Identified Stock ID in the Changed Identified Stock ID field.
  9. Click Next.
  10. The system returns the error message: Identified stock not valid.

Cause

The issue arises due to the product having its Identified Stock Type updated from Optional Specified Stock to Mandatory Specified Stock.

Resolution

  1. Open the relevant product master data.
  2. Change the Identified Stock Type from Mandatory Specified Stock back to Optional Specified Stock.
  3. Attempt the change of stock operation again.
