Symptom
- The "Resource Calendar" report only shows the gross capacity for employees with planned work in future periods, for example year 2025, whereas the expectation is for it to display the gross capacity for all employees, regardless of planned work.
- Is it feasible to extend the Resource Calendar report to display gross capacity as seen in the "Forecasted Utilization – My Area" report without considering the planned work?
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Resource Management workcenter
- Proceed to the Resource Profile view
- Search for an employee ID, for example, ABC (Here ABC refers to an employee ID)
- Select Show Availability.
- Observe that the gross capacity is displayed until 2025 for example for this employee and not beyond.
Cause
There is planned work beyond a year, as a project is assigned until say for example, December 30, 2025. This is why the gross capacity for this employee is extending beyond one year.
Resolution
-
The gross capacity shows one year from today, which is the standard behavior based on the current design of the ByDesign system. If period is selected longer than one year, a warning message appears stating, “Resource Availability is not computed beyond a year from today.”
-
It is not possible to extend the data source of the Resource Calendar report to display gross capacity as seen in the "Forecasted Utilization – My Area" report without considering the planned work.
