  SAP will apply the following maintenance activities targeting the implementation of SAP HANA Cloud on SAP Business Technology Platform:
  - Upgrade of the technical infrastructure layer
  - SAP HANA Data Lake Updates
  
  Up to 2 disruptions can be experienced.
  
  

  Upgrade of the technical infrastructure layer

  Upgrades of the technical infrastructure layer can cause disruptions which typically take less than 15 minutes per instance due to update of instances' hardware and the connection layer hardware.

  Note: For SAP HANA Cloud Database instances and SAP HANA Data lake instances, the instances' hardware restart can be avoided by performing any lifecycle operation (stop/start, resize, version update) in the week prior to the Major Upgrade Window between <timestamp> UTC and <timestamp> UTC. By doing this, the instance's hardware update will happen implicitly and there won't be another instance restart during the Major Update Window.
  
  

  SAP HANA Data Lake Updates

  Stopped Data Lake instances may be started to perform the required maintenance tasks.  Any Data Lake instance started will be shut back down once the maintenance is complete. To minimize disruption, SAP recommends you perform any pending self-service SAP HANA data lake database upgrades prior to the maintenance activity. See Data Lake Relational Engine Upgrades and Patches for instructions on how to perform these self-service operations.
