3548898 - Material Group MARA-MATKL is mandatory despite set as optional - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

The field Material Group is set as optional in SSCUI Maintain Field Selection for Data Screens for MM01 & MM02 but in MM02 it is still mandatory.

If the Purchasing view is filled (that is, the material is eligible for purchasing), the material group is mandatory, thus the customizing in SSCUI Maintain Field Selection for Data Screens has no effect in this case.

The reason is the purchasing programs require this field and thus it must be filled in the material master (it is hard coded this way).

It is standard behavior.
