3549224 - Permission to Access Admin Center in SuccessFactors

Symptom

  • The admin center option is visible in the drop-down for a certain user that should not see it
  • A report is required to show which roles have administrative permissions

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log in to the SAP SuccessFactors Platform
  2. See that "Admin Center" is available for users that should not see this page
  3. Attempt to identify which roles have access to the "Admin Center"

Cause

Anyone who has been granted at least one administrative permission can access the Admin Center. That is, anyone who has permission to access at least one admin tool or admin setting can also access the Admin Center page. There is no separate permission that controls access to the Admin Center page itself.

Resolution

  • Once you identify the admin permissions the user has, you need to remove it in order to restrict it's access to admin center
  • If the admin center option is still visible to the user after removing the permission, it might be due to old cache data. Clear the cache from the browser and try again

> > How identify a permission role that have administrative permissions?

From SuccessFactors PLT side, we currently do not have any reports that would show the specific roles that have administrative permissions in the system. However, Analytics team has a report that you can refer as per KBA 2089542 - Different Types of RBP Reports Available in Report Table - SAP for Me:

RBP Permission to User Report

Provides a report detailing permissions and all users who have been granted these permissions. The report includes:

  • Permission Name
  • User fields: Can include fields such as username, department, division, etc.
  • Role Name: The name of the role that granted the permission to the user.
  • Granted Population: the granted group / users.
  • Target Population: Name the target group / relationship.

In this case you will be able to search for the admin permissions itself and then look up for the Role name this permission is on, or even the users that have it. However, these reports are only available for Analytics reporting.
