Symptom
Why is a job alert automatically generated when a candidate applies to a job requisition?
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Marketing
Resolution
The aim of job alerts is to bring back potential candidates to the Career site by informing them about vacancies they may be interested in based on selected criteria.
This is because it has been established that the visitor to applicant conversion rate is consistently higher through these.
This is still relevant even when a candidate has applied to a job as they may not be successful in their original application and the alert may highlight a more suitable position based on the details of their previous application.
This is why an alert is automatically created on apply if no alerts are present in the candidate profile so that at least one alert is present.
Note candidates always have the option to unsubscribe from job alerts without logging in via the unsubscribe link in the alert or to delete any individual alerts as they see fit by logging into their profile and accessing the Job Alerts page via the Options menu.
Any change to this behaviour would need to be prompted by customer requests. As a result, we advise to follow the process outlined in KBA 2090228 - How to submit enhancement ideas for SAP SuccessFactors Products to submit a request for change and allow other customers to vote for it.
