3550188 - Error "insufficient privilege" while calling DATA_LAKE_EXECUTE procedure in SAP Datasphere

Symptom

While calling DATA_LAKE_EXECUTE procedure, the following error occurs:

  • Could not execute 'CALL "DWC_GLOBAL"."GRANT_PRIVILEGE_TO_SPACE" ( OPERATION => 'GRANT', PRIVILEGE => 'EXECUTE', ...'
  • Error: (dberror) [258]: insufficient privilege: "DWC_GLOBAL"."GRANT_PRIVILEGE_TO_SPACE": Detailed info for this error can be found with guid..."

Reproducing the Issue

A stored procedure attempts to modify a table by executing procedure CALL "DWC_GLOBAL"."DATA_LAKE_EXECUTE".

Cause

It is not supported to schedule procedures that reference Data lake related procedures.

Resolution

That's SAP Datasphere working as designed behavior. 

It's not possible to call "DWC_GLOBAL"."DATA_LAKE_EXECUTE" in a custom procedure.
This also includes calling the custom procedure in a Task Chain.
