Symptom
The automatic valuation result is "Accepted" even though the result of the characteristic is beyond the tolerance range.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Set the characteristic as "Summ. Recording" in the control indicator.
- Assign a sampling procedure to the characteristic, and the valuation mode is "100: Attributive inspection by number of nonconforming units" or "100: Attributive inspection by number of nonconforming units".
- Maintain the "Acceptance Number" in the sampling procedure as "0".
- Record one result which is beyond the tolerance range for the characteristic.
- The automatic valuation is triggered, but the result is "Accepted" rather than "Rejected".
Cause
The issue is caused by the combination use of summarize result recording and nonconforming related valuation. Since the valuation is nonconforming related, the system will decide whether the characteristic is accepted or not based on the relationship between the nonconforming sample number and acceptance number. However for summarized recording, you just enter a summarized result for the characteristic. This value will be recorded as the "mean value" and will not change the nonconforming number no matter it is qualified or not. As a result, there will be always 0 nonconforming sample and the valuation should always be "Accepted".
Resolution
In order to use the nonconforming valuation together with a summarized characteristic, you should also maintain the nonconforming number for the characteristic.
To do so, you need to click on the "More Details" button in the result recording screen to enter the characteristic detail screen. Then you should maintain values in the "No. Above" or "No. Below" field to make the nonconforming not always be 0. In this way, the valuation will be carried out based on your real result recording data.
