3551999 - Failure to Import Delivery Unit Using hdbalm Command

Symptom

When attempting to import a Delivery Unit (DU) using the hdbalm command as shown below, the operation fails with either [Error 1] or [Error 2]:

hdbalm -u SYSTEM -h hostname -p 8000 -v import /tmp/Charles/REPO_20241129-030452434-HRE-SYSTEMDB--CHARLES_DB.tgz

    File /tmp/Charles/REPO_20241129-030452434-HRE-SYSTEMDB--CHARLES_DB.tgz does not appear to be a delivery unit file.

    No supported python version found.
    Install the latest version of Python 3.6 or later.
    See SAP note 2990848.
    After the installation of Python set the environment variable
    PYTHON_HOME
    to the location of the Python installation
    or set the environment variable
    PYTHON_EXE
    to the location of the Python executable.
    As an example the command (bourne shell) is
    export PYTHON_HOME=/usr/python3
