3552120 - Wrong Resource Derived for Project Internal Service Confirmation

• Internal employees record time on project task AAA-A (AAA-A represents a project task ID).
• For the internal service confirmation of employee XYZ the wrong resource is derived as cost object. However, for the actual posting value  the cost rate of the recorded service is used (XYZ reproduces the employee's ID).
• You expect the resource and its cost rate connected to the employee's job to be derived for the time confirmation. 

SAP Business ByDesign

Pre-Condition:

• Employee XYZ is assigned to job ID ABC. 
• Their reporting line unit's cost center is XXX. 

Open the relevant time recording: 

1. Find the time recording's posting PPP, for example from the Source Documents view of the General Ledger. View the Business transaction and then open the journal entry (PPP represents the time recording's source document ID). 
2. In the journal entry you notice resource DEF got derived.
3. Resource DEF is not associated with job ABC. 
4. Resource DEF does not have an active cost rate assigned. 
5. Instead, the service cost rate is used for the posting value. 

• By default, service costs are allocated automatically based on resource cost rates.
• When an employee enters an activity confirmation, the system derives the resource from the employee’s cost center and job, and automatically defaults the resource in the confirmation. 

• In the case of time recording PPP, the system could not find a resource for the cost center XXX/job ABC combination. 
• The resource DEF associated with cost center XXX was found, not connected to any job and without any valid cost rate. 
• Therefore, the resource was still derived as cost object. 
• But for the actual posting the service cost rate is used. 

For time recordings always ensure that there is a resource available with the cost center/job combination of the respective employee/s.

Create or update a resource associated with cost center XXX and job ABC. 

Ensure the cost rate and job assignment are valid on the posting date of time recording PPP.

You can the reverse time recording PPP and re-enter it again. This time the correct resource with the correct cost rate will be derived.
