• How can I purge documents from MDF attachment fields?
• MDF attachments are replaced by an empty file and the file contains: "The document that you are trying to access has been removed from the system"

Auto Data Purge - Auto Data Purge | SAP Help Portal

• 'Auto Data Purge' > 'Attachment' purges attachments uploaded outside the retention period set.
• For MDF attachments, Auto Data Purge requires the relevant object be associated with an attachment field configuration record, with the module field populated as 'GENERIC_OBJECT' - refer to Impacts of Auto Data Purge | SAP Help Portal. See Configuring Attachment Fields for Document Categories |SAP Help Portal for steps to configure this object.
• Note that objects containing sensitive personal data should be marked as such - refer to Legislatively Sensitive Personal Data Configuration | SAP Help Portal and Defining a Custom Object as Containing Sensitive Personal Data for a Given Module | SAP Help Portal.
• Additionally, this configuration is only applied to documents uploaded after this configuration is completed, so if you wish to purge existing documents you will need to use a different method.

DRTM Purge

• 'DRTM Onboarding Purge' can be used to purge Onboarding MDF attachments with a specified retention period for attachments.
• Standard MDF objects and associated attachments can be purged with a specified retention period for MDF objects using the relevant DRTM purge request type - refer to DRTM Purge Request Types | SAP Help Portal for data included in each DRTM purge request type.
• The following DRTM purge request types can be used to purge custom MDF objects and associated attachments within certain functional areas, with a specified retention period for MDF objects:

Legacy Purge 

• For MDF objects not included above (non-DRTM), 'Purge MDF attachments' legacy purge request type can be used to purge one or more MDF attachment fields on individual MDF objects.
• With this purge request type, attachments included can be filtered by size or date.
• Refer to Purging MDF Data (Non-DRTM) | SAP Help Guide for guidance.

Individual attachments can also be deleted manually from the location in which they were uploaded - refer to 2518360 - Document Management Service and the Manage Documents tool - SAP SuccessFactors FAQ #7.
