3552920 - Unable to save updated Personal Data for Users Created from LMS UI

Symptom

  • Admins are unable to modify personal and organizational data for users created locally in the Learning Management System (LMS) .
  • User source system of the users created in LMS is set to 'SuccessFactors Platform' by default instead of 'Learning'

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning 2411

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Learning to People.
  2. Create a user in LMS using 'Add New' option
  3. Attempt to modify the user's personal data.
  4. Save the changes.
  5. Observe that the changes are not saved and the data reverts to its previous state.
  6. Notice that the user source system for the newly created user is 'SuccessFactors Platform'

Cause

If the LMS and IAS are not integrated for learning users, the 'Add New' option in the admin UI will not allow admins to create new users with the 'Learning' source system.

Resolution

Product Engineering has confirmed that starting 2H 2024 release, customers must integrate their LMS with SAP Identity Authentication (IAS) to create new 'Learning-only' users. Without this integration, the ability to create new users in LMS with 'Learning' as source system within the LMS will be restricted.

If IAS integration is not activated, all newly created users will be recognized as 'Platform' users. This change will impact the management of user data within Learning. Specifically, modifications to Personal Information for 'Platform' users will be blocked and cannot be saved directly within the Learning module.
