Alternative text, or alt text, describes the content or function of an image. It’s a textual substitute for the image, for people who use a screen reader or if the image can’t load. Good alt text is short, descriptive and relevant to the context. If alternative text isn’t provided, the image is considered decorative and isn’t announced by screen readers.
