3554515 - GST India: Maintenance of State Codes - S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition - GST IN

Symptom

Current maintenance of state codes and state names in SAP system happens as per the below formats either ISO definitions or Indian Census 2011. But with GST only CENSUS based format will be accepted by the government of India.

Resolution

Maintain the state codes in the SSCUI: 103826.

Note: As per standard, state codes for IN should be maintained in either of the below format..

  • SAP recommends customers to follow the ISO definitions, even if the SAP Note information are not updated. Follow <link> that contains all the state codes for country IN as per of ISO 3166-2, which SAP suggests the customers to follow. SAP does not provide a transport file with updated list of countries and regions of 'ISO 3166-1 and ISO 3166-2'.

  • Under GST regime, the state codes should be defined as per the Indian Census 2011 which will be followed by the government of India. In terms of the Indian Census 2011, each state has been allotted a unique two digit code e.g. '09' for the State of Uttar Pradesh and '27' for the State of Maharashtra.
