3555573 - Inability to Modify Planning Unit of Measure for Material is not Possible Filed is Grayed Out

Symptom

The planning unit of measure field is grayed out and is not editable, this issue arises when attempting to modify the base unit of measure for material.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Product Portfolio Work center
  2. Select Products view
  3. Enter the Product id
  4. Choose edit and view all
  5. Go to the Planning tab and observe that the Planning UOM is grayed out
  6. Attempt to change the UOM and observe that it is not possible

Cause

The issue arises because the planning area is currently active. As long as the planning area is active, the system does not allow any changes to the Planning Unit of Measure (UOM).

Resolution

System does not allow any modifications to the planning UoM when the planning area is active and this is an expected behavior.
