Symptom
- A new feature added in the 2H 2024 Upgrade, "ISH-6156 Enhanced Search Result Ranking in People Search", is not functioning as expected.
- When searching for Japanese employee's with keyword, the sort ranking is higher for the user whose first name matches than the one whose last name matches
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Provisioning>Company Settings and make sure "Enable alternate language for solr index" is enabled and alternate language is set as Japanese
- Login SF and search for people with a keyword
- According to "ISH-6156 Enhanced Search Result Ranking in People Search", last name fiels should have higher weight when ranking.
- However, it is observed that the sort ranking of user whose first name matches is higher
Cause
One possible root cause is that "Search People by Employee Central Name Fields" is enabled in "Company System and Logo Settings".
Employee Central Name Fields are not part of index segmentation for Japanese solr index.
Employee Central Name Fields will disturb the ranking weight of first name and last name.
Resolution
Go to "Company System and Logo Settings" and disable "Search People by Employee Central Name Fields" setting.
