3555747 - Unauthorized Error 401 while Accessing Signal Engine API in ABAP Platform

Symptom

  • Unauthorized Error 401 encountered while accessing the standard signal engine API, to fetch data.  
    https://<baseUrl>/pi/signal/odata/<version>/<resource>
  • The error persists despite following the documentation process of creating OData view user access and generating API access token.
  • The issue is experienced while trying to fetch data in Postman.

Environment

ABAP platform > Development Tools > ABAP Tools in Eclipse

Cause

The workspace being accessed is in another region. The base URL being used is incorrect, leading to the 401 unauthorized error.

Resolution

  1. Identify the workspace location
  2. Change the base URL to the correct one as per manual, Requests and Responses | SAP Help Portal 
  3. Try fetching the data again in Postman.
