Symptom
- The event reason changes unexpectedly after updating job information.
- When updating data from custom MDF to job information and compensation information, the issue happens only for the job information record.
- The event reason mentioned during the workflow changes after approval for job information, but remains correct for compensation information.
- The issue is reproducible through both integration center and import, with no workflow triggered for updating event reason.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors - HCM Suite
Reproducing the Issue
Integration Reproduction:
- Set up an integration to update data from custom MDF to job information and compensation information.
- Provide the default value for the integration.
- Run the workflow and observe the event reason mentioned.
- After approval, check if the event reason for job information changes while it remains correct for compensation information.
Import Reproduction:
- Fill the Job History template with position and Pay Grade change for an employee.
- Create a Rule trace before the import and import via Incremental Load
- Check the profile and the Rule Trace - Job Information record shows a different Event Reason that was set in the import file and no rule has action 'SET' for event reason value.
- When reaching backend logs for the import you can find the message "There is no Event Reason Derivation enabled. So event reason is set from parameter " before the unwanted Event Reason taking place in the record.
Cause
The issue is a misconfiguration in Position Management Settings for the Import tab - the "Execute Job Relationship Sync" is set to NO.
Once no sync is enabled to run after the import of a Position change, system will use a default value previously configured in the same tab.
Resolution
- Check the Follow-Up Processes After Job History Import | SAP Help Portal for configuring options under 'Job Relationship Sync'
- Set Admin Center > Position Management Settings > , on the Import tab, the "Execute Job Relationship Sync" to YES and reproduce the process.
