Symptom
After the publishing of a custom field in the business context Accounting: Coding Block the custom field is not visible in the Manage Journal Entries app.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Custom Fields app.
- Create a custom field for business context 'Accounting: Coding Block'.
- Maintain the custom field as desired.
- Save and Publish the new custom field.
- Access the Manage Journal Entries app.
- Display a Journal Entry Item.
- Attempt to add/view the new custom field.
- The field is not listed in the display settings.
Cause
It is possible that the new custom field has not been enabled for usage within the app, CDS view, SAP GUI or Service.
Resolution
The field must be enabled for usage in the app to do this;
- Custom Fields app.
- Select the effected custom field.
- Select the tab 'User Interfaces'
- For Manage Journal Entries app for example:
UI_JOURNALENTRY_MANAGE Manage Journal Entries OData Service Disabled - Enable Usage.
- Save and Publish.
- It is now possible to view the Custom Field in the app.
Note: This is also true for reporting apps like Trial Balance (C_TRIALBALANCEQ0001) the field will need to be enabled for usage. It is also important to note the same for API usage the field needs to be enabled.
