3558868 - Issue with SAP Application /<SID>/BAPI_< NAME> Function Module Post-Upgrade, could not find .odbc.ini

Symptom

  • After upgrading the SAP system to HANA 2023, an issue with an application BAPI, for example /<SID>/BAPI_VENDOR_MAINTAIN function module was encountered.
  • The issue is only encountered with BAPI, not with related transactions like VA01, VA02, etc.
  • The error message from the ABAP Dump shows "SQL error "SQL code: 403" occurred while accessing table \"<TABLE>\",
  • Database error text: "SQL message: internal error: Remote Source [<Remote_Source _Name>] is                  |
    |     not accessible to perform the operation: Could not find .odbc.ini in                         |
    |     /usr/sap/<HANA DB SID>/home or /usr/sap/<HANA DB SID>/HDB##
