Symptom

  • When upgrading ASE (for example from SP03 PL15 to SP04 PL06 HF1), a warning is raised about version compatibility:

    Check Upgrade Incompatible Version

    Warning: The current "SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise" in your destination directory is not compatible with this version upgrade; some bug fixes may be unavailable if you proceed.
    See the release note for more information.

  • And a reply is expected whether to proceed:

    Do you want to upgrade your "SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise" to an incompatible version?
