3560157 - Different behaviors when accessing two different instances within the same browser

Symptom

A user is logged into one SAP SuccessFactors HCM instance A. When attempting to log into another instance B within the same browser, one of the following behaviors occurs:

A CompanyCheck page is displayed.
The first instance A is loaded instead of the second instance B.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

Log in to instance A.
While still logged into instance A, open the login URL for another instance B in the same browser.

Resolution

The behavior depends on the domain and login methods used:

Different Domains: Instances hosted on separate domains, such as:
- Instance A: https://performancemanager8.successfactors.com
- Instance B: https://hcm19.sapsf.com
Same Domain: Instances hosted on the same base domain, such as:
- Instance A: https://performancemanager8.successfactors.com
- Instance B: https://performancemanager9.successfactors.com
Login Methods:
- PWD (Password-based login): The user logs in using a username and password.
- SSO (Single Sign-On): Authentication is handled by Identity Authentication Service (IAS) or Corporate Identity Provider (IDP).


Possible scenarios:

Scenario	Domain Comparison	Login Methods	Expected Behavior
1	Different domains	Any	While logged into instance A, the user will be able to log into instance B without issues.
2	Same domain	Both PWD	User can log into B, but session in A will be terminated.
3	Same domain	A = SSO, B = PWD	User can log into B, but session in A will be terminated.
4	Same domain	A = PWD, B = SSO	Login page for B is not displayed. Instead, a CompanyCheck page appears (Refer to KBA 3509563).
5	Same domain	Both SSO, Different IAS instances	Login page for B is not displayed. A CompanyCheck page appears (Refer to KBA 3509563).
6	Same domain	Both SSO, Same IAS instance	User is automatically redirected back to instance A.

Important Notes:

⚠️ SAP SuccessFactors HCM does not support opening multiple instances with the same domain in the same browser.

➡️ Recommended Workarounds:

Use the browser's incognito mode to access another instance.
Use a different browser for accessing multiple instances simultaneously.
