Symptom
You are importing employees via data workbench and you are seeing the message "Enter an employee ID between ABC and DEF" as result. You wonder where this block is coming from.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Data Workbench work center.
- Select the Import view.
- Select individual object.
- Select employee and click in next.
- Click in the 'Browse' button and select your excel file GHI (where GHI is an excel file with the column 'Employee ID' inside as JKL (where JKL is an ID of employee)).
- Click in the 'Upload' button and then in 'Next'.
- Click in Next and then Import.
- Go to the Data Workbench work center.
- Select the Monitor view.
- In the My Tasks query, wait for your task to be with status as 'finished'.
- Click in the file hyperlink of column 'File Name' to download it.
- Open it.
- You will see in the error column "Enter an employee ID between ABC and DEF" (where ABC and DEF are ID numbers).
Cause
In the business configuration fine-tuning activity 'Number Ranges for Employees and Service Agents' the JKL value is outside the range of 'begin number' and 'end number'.
Resolution
This is the system standard behavior. Please change the begin/end number (if possible) or mind the range stated there.
