3563241 - Widgets would be refreshed each time when selecting any member in each input control in optimized story in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

• Enable cascading effect among input controls in one story page in SAC
• Widgets would be refreshed each time when selecting members in each input control on the same story page
• It is expected to enable cascading effect only among filters and widget would not be refreshed each time after selecting member in each filter. Widget would only refresh after selecting members in the lowest level filter

• SAP Analytics Cloud 2024.21.14

1. Log onto SAC
2. Create an optimized story based on the sample model as below steps
3. Insert a table into this story and add measure as well as dimension A and dimension B into this table
4. Add two input controls based on the A dimension and B dimension respectively
5. Enable the Cascading Effect in these two input controls
6. Select any member in input control based on A dimension
   => Observe that cascading effect has worked as expected and only active members would appear on the input control based on B dimension
   => Also observe that table would be refreshed the first time when selecting any member in input control based on B dimension
7. Then, select any active member in input control based on B dimension
   => Observe that table would be refreshed the second time 

• This is currently a by designed behaviour.
• Currently, the filter pipeline for cascading effect works as story filter -> page filter -> page group filter, meaning that the cascading occurs from higher level to lower level or within the same level, but not from lower to higher level. Page group filter are defined for a page filter only affect a subset of widgets on the page through the linked analysis setting, and at this level the cascading only occurs between filters targeting the exactly same group.

• The product doesn't have the flexibility to set cascading between individual filters within the same level in the pipeline, and this behavior was implemented since the very beginning of SAC. 

• This is currently a by designed behaviour.
