Symptom
Data Access Control setting for a Public Dimension is inherited to Model in SAP Analytics Cloud
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud 2025.1
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a new Public Dimension Table with Data Access Control enabled.
- Create a new Model and add this Public dimension into the model.
- Go to Model Preferences -> Access and Privacy -> Data Access Control in Dimensions, find that the Public Dimension added has automatically checked on.
- In the same model, go to edit the Public dimension.
- Uncheck Data Access Control and save the model.
- Close the model and open the same Public Dimension Table, find that the Data Access Control is also unchecked now.
Cause
This behavior is BY DESIGN.
Resolution
Public dimensions are saved separately from models. This means that models only reference public dimensions.
For Public dimension, the data access control setting is also saved with itself but not saved in model. Therefore, the data access control will be always kept in the public dimension itself.
