Symptom
- After an OS version upgrade
- or applying an OS Service Pack (SP) or patch
- ASE can no longer use HugePages and returns message:
Could not allocate memory using Huge Pages. Allocated using regular pages. For better performance, reboot the server after configuring enough Huge Pages. - Before upgrade ASE was using HugePages:
Allocated memory using Huge pages. - Capturing strace output shows HugePages allocation fails due to :
EPERM (Operation not permitted)
