Symptom
- An internal error occurs when attempting to release a production model for planning and execution in SAP Business ByDesign.
- The system dumps during the release process.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Planning and Production Master Data work center.
- Go to the Production Models view.
- Find and select the relevant Production Model.
- Click Edit.
- Click Release Production Model and select Release for Planning and Execution.
- Observe that the system dumps.
Cause
The issue is caused by the structure of the Bills of Operation. If the structure involves a Connection, there should be another operation with at least one 'Produce' activity after the connection. In this case, there is no Operation Element after the Connection.
Resolution
- Navigate to the Planning and Production Master Data work center and Production Bills Of Operation view.
- Find and Edit the relevant Bill of Operations.
- Ensure to add another Operation with at least one 'Produce' activity after the connection. This is logical since the connection is used to perform two operations with produce activity in parallel, it would then be required to do a final activity to make the final output product.
- You can find diagram and more details can be found in SAP By Design Help Documentation "Bills of Operations".
