3567513 - Time Off From Overtime on Half-Day Holiday is Booked as Full Day

Symptom

When performing a time recording in a half-day holiday using time type "Time in lieu for overtime", the time account balance shows the posting as 8 hours, instead of the expected 4 hours.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Home work center.
  2. Open the Employee Self-Services view.
  3. Click on New Leave Request.

Here, create a leave request with type of leave as "Time in Lieu for Overtime"

To check the posting from the time administrator perspective:

  1. Go to Time Account Balance tab
  2. Select the time account for "Time in Lieu for Overtime"
  3. On the panel below, click on the Posting tab.

Here you can see the time record created, with a deduction of 8 hours, instead of the expected 4 from the half-day holiday.

Cause

The "Time in Lieu for Overtime" has time type category as "Leave", which enables the user to book the leave request as "Full Day", "Half Day" or "Partial Day".

In case the user books the leave as "Full Day", the system will consider the booking as 8 hours, despite it being a half-day holiday.

Resolution

The system works as expected.

In order to correctly define the amount of hours that will be deducted from the "Time in Lieu for Overtime" time account, the user needs to book the leave request as "Partial Day", and define the duration of leave as 4 hours.

In case the category type of the "Time in Lieu for Overtime" time type is modified from "Absence" to "Vacation", it will have the same behavior as other vacation times, and post only 4 hours when booking on a half-day holiday - even when selecting a "Full Day" leave.

In order to modify the time type category, please follow the below steps:

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Enter the Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the current implementation project and click on the Open Activity List button.
  4. Search for activity "Time Types - XYZ" (where XYZ represents the country of the employee).
  5. Click on Maintain Employee Time Types.
  6. Search for the time type, and change the Time Type Category to Vacation.
