3568254 - The flexible billing of batch item doesn't work for the item categories with "CBTC" and "CBTD" - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

When creating a billing document with reference to a delivery document containing batch items, the system picks the unexpected variant, although the flexible billing of batch item has been configured.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Configure the Flexible Billing of Batch Items.
  2. Create the billing document using the outbound delivery containing batch items as reference, where the item category of the outbound delivery is "CBTC" or "CBTD".
  3. Check the item of the billing document and the system picks the unexpected variant.

Resolution

The system behaves as design.

"CBTC" and "CBTD" are the item categories with structural scope (e.g. for variant configuration).

This is an indicator that Flexible Billing of Batch Items does not apply by design as these kind of item categories have their own rules in regard to the distribution of quantities / costs / etc.
