3569050 - G/L Account ABC of Account Type: ZZZ is assigned in the Financial Reporting Structure DEF of Type: Balance Sheet

Symptom

G/L Account ABC of Account Type: ZZZ is assigned to the Financial Reporting Structure DEF of Type: Balance Sheet. This seems to be incorrect, since G/L Account ABC is not a Balance Sheet Account.

(ABC stands for the G/L Account ID, DEF for the Financial Reporting Structure ID, ZZZ represents the Account Type)

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Open Overview view.
  3. Search and open Activity: Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination.
  4. Click on Edit financial reporting structures.
  5. Select Financial Reporting Structure DEF, of Structure Type: Balance Sheet and click on Edit.
  6. It is noted that under a specific node, G/L Account ABC of type ZZZ is maintained.
If under the same node, clicking on Actions > Assign Account, the same G/L Account ABC of type ZZZ is not available for selection.

Cause

The reason why it is showing under Financial Reporting Structure DEF is because its account type was changed to a non-balance sheet type after being added to the structure.

Accounts of types: COGS (Cost of sales), OCLSPL (Opening or closing - income statement), CSTGEN (Allocated costs), COSEXP (Costs or expenses), REVGAN (Revenues or gains), DIFFER (Differences) are not Balance Sheet Accounts.

The Account Type of G/L Account ABC can be checked through the following path:

1. Go to General Ledger work center.
2. Open General Ledger Accounts view.
3. Open the Advanced Search and choose the respective Company ID and Set of Books ID.
4. In G/L Account, add ABC and click on Go.
5. In Account Type column, the Account Type is shown.

Resolution

This is the standard system behavior.
