3571576 - Users with shared permission denied are still able to share the subfolders created under Files -> System -> Workspace in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Symptom

  • Users with shared permission for both public and private files denied are still able to share the subfolders that were created under Files -> System -> Workspace and shared with them by the user admin.
  • If a subfolder is created under Files > Workspace and shared with the team having the share permission denied, any subfolders created within the subfolder by the team members cannot be shared.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a new custom role based on the BI Content Creator template and deny the permission to share public and private files.
  2. Create a team and assign it to this custom role.
  3. Add a user to the team.
  4. Create a new workspace and add the team to it.
  5. Using the admin account, create a ROOT folder within the created workspace and share it with the team.
  6. Using the user account, create a folder inside the ROOT folder.

            >> Notice that the user is still able to share the folder they created inside the ROOT folder.

Cause

  • This behavior is by design.
  • The Share permissions added in Q3 2024 do not apply to the files that can be created inside "workspace system/root folders".
