3572409 - Value Help is not available for Input Parameters in a SAC Story based on a SAP Datasphere model

Symptom

  • An issue is encountered in SAP Analytics Cloud where Input Parameters do not display "Value Help" for assist the user's input;
  • This issue occurs when a SAC story is created based on an analytical model built in SAP Datasphere;
  • The SAC story recognizes the input parameters and allows manual value entry, but it does not have "Value Help" enabled to assist users with guided input of possible values.

Environment

  • SAP Datasphere
  • SAP Analytics Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create an SAC story based on an analytical model built in SAP Datasphere;
  2. Check the SAC prompts for the Input Parameters;
  3. No "Value Help" is enabled/displayed.

Cause

The issue is caused by the fact that the input parameters are defined in Fact View (or underlying object) with Default Value Help as "No Value".

Resolution

  1. Check the AM Model and underlying Fact;
  2. Review how the input parameters are defined. In case the Default Value Help is "No Value", adjust accordingly;
  3. To enable the "Value Help" for Input Parameters, use "Predefined Value from an Object" and then input the Object and Column that will contain the available members.
