3572852 - Inability to Limit Validity of Organizational Unit

• When attempting to limit the validity of organizational unit, errors occur and the organizational unit is displaced from the original structure.
• The error messages that appear would be valid for the new, incorrect position of the organizational units, but not for their original, correct position.
• Error messages, including "Timeline aa.bb.cccc and xx.yy.zzzz  not valid" occur. (where aa.bb.cccc and xx.yy.zzzz represent dates.)
• These error messages would be correct for the incorrect, displaced place in the structure, but not the original place. 
• The original place does not give any indication for errors. 

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Open Organisational Management work center.
2. Open the Org Structure view with chosen Effective Date.
3. Find and Edit the Organizational Unit
4. Limit the validity from unlimited to the chosen date.
5. Save the change.
6. Error(s) occur.

The issue might be caused by buffer issue in the User Interface (UI) that results in the display of error messages.

In case no indication for a justified error is found, report the issue in a Support Case with the permission to reproduce the steps.  Support will verify the situation and development might need to activate the organizational unit in the backend.
