3574073 - Direct Pay Statement error "201 - OAuth 2.0 Client authentication failed" or Connection error 401 after enabling Certificate Revocation in ECP

Symptom

After enabling the Certificate Revocation Checks, connection issues with error code 401 occur.
The Certificate Revocation Checks are not in strict mode.
The certificate, that is used for authentication during the connection, is not part of any block list or any Certificate Revocation List.
The corresponding Root Certificate is part of the Trust List of the affected PSE.

Another possible symptom is that using Direct Pay Statement fails with the following error:

Error Code: 201
Error Message: The system failed to generate the access token
Root Cause: OAuth 2.0 Client authentication failed
