Symptom
After an Item is revised, users who have previously purchased and started the course will lose access to it. The item disappears from user's Learning Assignments, and within the Item search they will be presented with an option to 'Buy Course' to access the revised content.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
- Create an online item with Price
- User purchases the course from library, and gains access to start the course but doesn't completed the item
- Admin has revised the item
- The item disappear from user's learning Assignments. When user search the course in library, they presented with an option to 'Buy Course' to access the revised course.
Cause
The Learning Product Management team has confirmed that this behavior is expected and working as designed.
Resolution
When the admin revises an item, it results in the creation of a new item with a revision. Users would then need to purchase this new item to access the updated course content. This is how our system is designed to function.
However, if you do not want your users to purchase the course again, you have two options:
- You can update the existing item with the desired changes. This way, users who have already purchased the course will have access to the updated content without needing to make another purchase.
- Alternatively, you can keep the old item active when revising it. This way, the item will remain in the same state in the user's learning plan who have already purchased it.
