3574582 - Tax Code not Available in the Drop Down List for Tax Country US

A Sales Document, such as a Sales Order, is created with the Tax Country US.

When trying to select a Tax Code in the drop-down list in the Taxes tab for an Item in a Sales Document, the Tax Codes 502,503, 504, 505 and 506 are not available.

SAP Business ByDesign

The Sales Order document will be used for this example.

1. Go to the Sales Orders work center. 
2. Select the Sales Orders view. 
3. Enter all relevant data in the General tab. 
4. Navigate to the Items tab. 
5. Add a Product. 
6. Navigate to the Taxes sub tab. 
7. Click on the Drop-Down List for the field Tax Code. 

The Tax Codes 502,503, 504, 505 and 506 are not available for selection. 

Avalara or Vertex was activated in the solution and the system is using the External Tax Determination to determine the Tax Code.

The Tax Codes 502,503, 504, 505 and 506 are not available in the drop-down list in the Taxes tab for an Item in a Sales Document if the Tax Country is US and if Vertex or Avalara is in scope.

Only Tax Codes with the Tax Rate Type 1 – Standard and if there is no Tax Rate Type maintained will be available for selection for Tax Country US in the Sales Document if Vertex or Avalara is in scope.

Tax Code 502 has the Tax Rate Type  2 - Exempt

Tax Code 503 has the Tax Rate Type  3 - Special - Food

Tax Code 504 has the Tax Rate Type  4 - Special - Health care

Tax Code 505 has the Tax Rate Type  5 - Special - Clothing

Tax Code 506 has the Tax Rate Type  6 - Special - Other

Since these Tax Codes have Tax Rate Types other than 1 – Standard or no Tax Rate Type, they are not available for selection.

This is the expected system behaviour.
