3575233 - MRP Generating Orders on Single Date Instead of Distributing Over Time

Symptom

The system is not distributing planned orders across the required period; instead, it generates all orders on the MRP run date

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. View sales order in MD04 transaction and enter material, plant in the selection screen.
  2. Run MRP by "Schedule MRP run" app.
  3. Recheck the transaction MD04, and the system will create multiple planned orders on the MRP run date.

Cause

The MRP is generating receipts based on requirement date.

Resolution

In the current planning system setup, receipts are generated based on requirement dates. If there is a single requirement entry with a specific due date, the system cannot automatically distribute supply over multiple periods (e.g., daily or weekly) unless requirements are explicitly segmented.

From a planning perspective, the supply schedule is determined by the requirement date. This means that if there is a requirement for a large quantity on a specific date, the system will generate a corresponding supply order to fulfill the entire requirement at once.

To enable batch production, adjustments must be made at the requirement level. Instead of a single large order, multiple smaller orders should be scheduled over the desired time intervals (e.g., daily or weekly) to align with production capacity and efficiency.
