3576438 - Issue with Default Home Page Redirection for User Groups in Site Menu in Work Zone

• In the Menu Editor, when a default home page is configured and restricted with a User List, users not included in this list are redirected to the default feed page upon login, instead of being redirected to the first available page.
• This behavior is observed even when other menu items are visible and accessible to the user.

1. In the Menu Editor, select a page to serve as the default home page.

2. Click Access Control and associate this menu item with a Dynamic User List so that it is only accessible to users included in that list.

3. Create or identify a user account that is not included in the selected User List.

4. Using the test user account, log in to Work Zone.

5. Upon login, observe that the user is redirected to the default home page, instead of the first available page that is specified for their user list.

This is an expected behavior of the current system design. Work Zone does not support cascading the landing page depending on the user list.  

• When a default page is set, users are redirected to this page upon login.
• If the default page is not accessible (for example, when it is associated with a Dynamic User List and the user is not part of this list), the system considers this as none/empty and redirects the user to the default home page.

Some possible considerations that administrators can take: 

• Ensure that the default page is a page that is accessible to all users.
  • Alternatively, configure and customize the default homepage where users, who are not part of the user list intended for the restricted page, will be redirected to.
• Explore the option of customizing the admin area as documented in the help guide -> Area & Workspace Configuration | SAP Help Portal
