Symptom
In Admin Alerts for the alert type 'Processing Paired Time Events for Time Sheet,' the following alert message is generated: An error occurred while deleting the external time data for ABZ from dd/hh/mm to dd/hh/mm. Reason for failure: You cannot modify the external time data for this user while an import is running. Please try again later. Please resolve the cause of failure and reprocess the alert.
No changes have been made to the External Time Data.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Sheet
SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking
Reproducing the Issue
The issue also occurs:
- when using Clock My Time quick action on the home page
and/or
- when creating manual time events in time sheet UI.
Cause
- This issue arises due to a technical restriction that prevents parallel processing of external time data for the same employee.
- The restriction is designed to prevent potential data inconsistencies caused by simultaneous operations on external time data for one user.
- This is part of the current system design and not a bug or error.
Resolution
Improvements to address this limitation are planned for future releases.
Until the improvement is available:
a. Avoid parallel processing of external time data for the same employee, including inserting, updating, and deleting, to prevent errors.
b. Reprocess the alert message in Admin Alerts after the error occurs.
