Symptom
When creating a Sales Order in the system, the Tax Jurisdiction field is not visible in the Tax Details section of the Item.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Sales Order Work Center.
- Go to the Sales Order View.
- Filter for All Orders.
- Search for the Sales Order ABC. (where ABC represents the Sales Order ID)
- Open, Select View All.
- Navigate to the Items tab.
- Select the Taxes sub tab.
The Tax Jurisdiction field is not displayed.
Cause
The reason for the Tax Jurisdiction field to not be displayed for the Sales Order documents is because the Vertex or Avalara is In Scope in the system.
When Vertex or Avalara is scoped, the Jurisdiction Codes are not relevant and hence are hidden in the address as they are not used in tax determination.
Once Vertex or Avalara is scoped, the tax determination takes place based on the postal codes.
Resolution
This is the intended system behaviour and cannot be changed.
