Symptom
The MRP run did not generate Purchase Requisitions (PR) for certain materials, and the system automatically linked existing purchase orders from other orders.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Run MRP for Sales Order.
- Then check the result in the Monitor Stock Requirement List app and found that PR is not generated for certain orders.
Cause
The "Individual/Collective Requirement" indicator in the material master (MRP 4 view) was set to "2" (Collective Requirement) at the time of order creation. As a result, MRP did not generate a new Purchase Requisition (PR) but instead fulfilled the requirement from existing stock or an open Purchase Order (PO).
Resolution
The "Individual/Collective Requirement" indicator controls the material itself, not its lower-level components.
If this indicator is set to "2" at the time of order creation, the requirement will be treated as collective, and the system will utilize existing purchase order items from plant stock instead of generating new purchase requisitions.
It is important to set the "Individual/Collective Requirement" indicator correctly in the Material Master (MM03: MRP 4 View).
- To generate purchase requisitions per sales order, set the indicator to "1" (Individual Requirement) or leave it empty.
- Avoid setting it to "2" (Collective Requirement) unless collective procurement is required.
Any changes to the "Individual/Collective Requirement" indicator will only apply to new orders. Existing orders will continue to follow the setting that was in place at the time of their creation.
