3577579 - Logon page displays "Username or password is incorrect (repeat logon)" error but works after credentials popup or page refresh

When submitting credentials in a form to logon to a web application (e.g. Fiori Launchpad, SAML 2.0 Configuration of ABAP System, etc), logon fails with one of below behaviors.:

• The page becomes blank and a browser popup for credentials appear (if credentials are provided in the popup, they are accepted);
• "Username or password is incorrect (repeat logon)" error appears although credentials are correct and user is not locked in SU01;

If retrying a few times, form logon is successful with the same credentials.
