3577609 - Visibility of Hidden Fields in Employee Hiring Workflow

Symptom

  • In new hire workflow details, hidden fields by onInit rules are visible in the workflow approval interface.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental

Environment

Workflows - Configuration, Tools, Objects & Rules

Reproducing the Issue

1. Add a new employee and hide unnecessary fields using onInit rules in Job Information. Take Notes field under job information as an example as below.

2. Submit the new hire information for approval.

3. Observe that all fields, including those hidden, are visible in the workflow approval interface.

Cause

Resolution

Currently this is the expected behavior.

The system has hard coded designed that Workflow Approvals do not respect these rules or RBP.

Please note that workflow stores values and shows them as part of the approval pages irrespective of whether the approver has permissions for those fields or not for new hire workflows.
