Symptom
- An error message "You cannot save the billing data. Please contact support." is displayed when attempting to save changes in customer projects.
- The issue arises when multiple work packages are assigned to a Billing item at once in the "Plan Customer Projects" tile.
- The error persists even after ensuring that the USD to CAD conversion rates were maintained for the time range of the project.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the tile "Plan Customer Projects".
- Open a specific project.
- Navigate to the Billing tab.
- Enter Edit mode.
- On Billing item 1, add multiple assigned work packages.
- Press the Save button.
- Encounter the error message.
Cause
- When multiple work packages were assigned simultaneously to the project, the system rejected the changes due to validation constraints.
- Bulk additions may lead to system inconsistencies, causing errors such as “You cannot save the billing data. Please contact support.”
Resolution
- When adding work packages to a Billing item, add them individually rather than in bulk.
- After each addition, save the changes before proceeding to the next work package.
- This process ensures that the system can correctly validate and associate each work package with the relevant WBS element and sales order.
